Dynalivery Product Roadmap
October 2004
(Subject to change - Please recheck periodically)

The current version of Harmoni is v1.0.

It is the successor to Parallel Crystal 2.7.x and 3.7.x.

The key features of Harmoni 1.0 are the support of multiple print engines including Crystal Reports 7 and 9 and Microsoft Word 10/2002 and 11/2003. In addition, Harmoni 1.0 runs on Microsoft Windows 2000, 2003, and XP Pro.

The next version of Harmoni is v1.1, scheduled for release in the first quarter of calendar year 2005.

The key feature of Harmoni 1.1 will be the addition of a royalty-free XSLT engine, specifically for the processing of Word documents.

Dynalivery continues to support Parallel Crystal 2.7.x for Crystal Reports 7 users and Parallel Crystal 3.7.x for Crystal Reports 9 users.

The current version of Parallel Crystal 2.7 is v2.7.2.6.

The current version of Parallel Crystal 3.7 is v3.7.2.6.

Dynalivery recommends that customers using Parallel Crystal 2.7.1 or earlier upgrade to v2.7.2.6 or v3.7.2.6.

For users of Crystal Reports 8.5, Dynalivery continues to support Parallel Crystal 3.6.

Parallel Crystal and Harmoni require access to the Crystal Reports Print Engine APIs implemented in the CRPE32.dll and associated run-time libraries. Please check the documentation from Business Objects to insure that you obtain "Advanced Editions" or other software containing these libraries, as well as other appropriate "Expansion Pack" or concurrency licensing.

The current version of Saffron is v1.2.

The upcoming version of Saffron is v1.3, scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2005.

Key features that we are researching for Saffron 1.3 and successors include load balancing/failover for Saffron engines, "Ink on paper" printing (in addition to electronic documents), support for Java 5 (formerly J2SE 1.5), COM and .NET wrappers for Saffron's Java client libraries, and broader coverage of WordML input, among others.

The final list of features that Dynalivery offers in Saffron 1.3 and Harmoni 1.1 are subject to change.

OEM inquiries for Saffron are welcome.

Dynalivery invites its customers to contact us regarding suggestions for new features and the schedule in which you may require them.

Dear Customers and Friends of the Company:

Dynalivery is pleased to announce the availability of Harmoni v1.0, the successor to Parallel Crystal. We introduced Parallel Crystal in 1998 to enable our customers to tranform desktop Crystal Reports into a true application server. In some ways, Harmoni is "Parallel Crystal 2.8", enabling you to run economical Crystal Reports 7 print engines at high concurrency on Microsoft Windows 2000 and 2003. According to our benchmarks, Harmoni can generate over ONE MILLION PDF PAGES PER DAY on an Intel/Microsoft/Dynalivery platform with a total cost of ownership of less than USD 30,000!

However, the reason that we renamed our product to Harmoni is that it is no longer limited to acting as a framework for a single version of Crystal Reports. Harmoni now supports multiple print engines such as Crystal Reports 9 and Microsoft Word 10 & 11, along with Crystal Reports 7. You can even run these print engine types simultaneously. For example, a Harmoni server could concurrently process multiple Crystal 7 jobs, multiple Crystal 9 jobs, and multiple Microsoft Word jobs - all on the same hardware! Rather than undertaking high risk upgrades for new reporting software all at once, Harmoni provides you with great flexibility to schedule your upgrades and leverage your budget. Alternately, you can continue to run your Crystal Reports 7 reports and Harmoni will help you integrate smoothly with your choice of recent middle-tier servers such as J2EE 1.4, IIS 6, and .net, as well as recent databases from Oracle, IBM, and Sybase.

Dynalivery is particularly excited about advances by Microsoft in opening up Word with XML so that its customization opportunities approach those of mature report tools like Crystal Reports. That is why we made Microsoft Word the first non-Crystal print engine supported by Harmoni.

Here is a key list of Harmoni features:

1) Multiple print engine support: Word, Crystal, and others to follow

2) Multiple operating systems support: Windows 2000 and 2003, as even XP Pro as a low cost development/test option. We no longer use the Microsoft Java VM as a Java/COM/.net bridge to insure compatibility with the latest security patches and policies from Microsoft.

3) PDF generation in Java: PDF generation is factored out to Saffron, a separate Java server, rather than in a Windows DLL, opening up the option of moving the final rendering process (PostScript to PDF) from PC's to most any other local server, including mainframes. Saffron also generates high quality SVG, HTML, and other formats.

4) Job Priority Queues: We open up the option of deferring execution of low and medium priority jobs to boost the response time of high priority jobs - levering the hardware that you already have.

Harmoni is available as a free upgrade to users of Parallel Crystal with paid up support. We will also provide a free project kick-off phone conference with Dynalivery Tech Support to help you in your transitions. To order Harmoni or otherwise let us know how we can help you, please contact us at: http://www.dynalivery.com/customersupport/updates/requestform.html.

Thanks again.
