Hardware Requirements: Entry-Level Dual CPU Report Server
Download PDF version of this faq: HW_Requirements.pdf
The minimum hardware specifications for a Parallel Crystal installation:
In Production
Dual Pentium III or higher
512-1GB of RAM
3 or more Ultra Wide High Performance SCSI hard drives (IDE drives not supported)
RAID controller
In Development
Single or Dual Pentium III
256-512MB of RAM
2 or more Ultra Wide High Performance SCSI hard drives (IDE drives not supported)
Dynalivery comments & recommendations:
- Separate Development, Test and Production Report Servers.
- Parallel Crystal Report servers should be dedicated and independent of Web/Portal Servers.
- Parallel Crystal should be installed on a clean system. By this, we mean a freshly formatted hard drive with a clean installation of Microsoft Windows NT. Remember that Parallel Crystal 2.5 is based on Crystal Reports 7.0.1.100. Furthermore, the Seagate/Crystal Decisions uninstall utilities are not 100% effective in removing residual DLLs and registry entries that may be on your report server from prior installations of Crystal Reports, Dynalivery Parallel Crystal, or applications that may embed them.
What is the cost of an entry-level dual CPU box? As an example, consider the following hypothetical $3,968 configuration from September 10, 2001: hardwarereq_91001.pdf
To better understand why Dynalivery so strongly recommends that customers install Parallel Crystal on a clean Windows NT machine, refer to:
