Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any limitations in using Comma Separated Value (CSV), Excel (XLS) or dBase (DBF) files as a data source for reports executed by Parallel Crystal?

Download PDF version of this faq: CSV_XLS_DBF.pdf

Yes, reports generated from file servers rather than database servers or exported from other applications in CSV, XLS, or DBF formats should be considered as fundamentally single-user. Dynalivery includes them in Parallel Crystal for the purposes of compatibility in our proof-of-concept examples with the underlying Crystal Reports from Seagate/Crystal Decisions. They may also have some benefit in training. However, Dynalivery strongly recommends that its customers not use them in concurrent applications, i.e. applications that may generate two or more reports at the same time.

Dynalivery reserves the right to deny technical support services to customers who attempt to use these formats in production and/or with concurrent applications.
